Intermediate--Plays Most days--Used 2-5 reedmakers--Reedmaking: Buy but adjust

Used the pro-z reeds. they did need adjustment to play. Not the best I’ve played though.

the pro z reeds are not very good. they are buzzy and not in tune. I have tried many of them and am not satisfied. But the x and y reeds are very nice, but they do require a little bit of scraping to get them the way you want them to be, like most reeds. i usually get them in the same amount of time as i would a z reed.

The “Pro-Z” reeds are ok, but they are not scraped well. I ordered one of these reeds because I needed a reed quickly, and the site said this maker’s reeds were always in stock. The reed played well for a while, but then the edges of the tip soon were broken, because the two pieces of can had large (2-3mm) overlap. I ordered another one, which was average, also. The main disadvantage of the reeds was that the backs of the hearts were not smoothly cut; one could tell that the reed had been scraped quickly from the back to the heart. The other reed makers (makers “X” and “Y”) may have better reeds, since they have a longer shipping time (around 4 weeks)
