I had ordered Lisa’s “The Doubler” Package (Professional), 2 oboe and 2 EH reeds with med strength and dark tone. I needed the reeds quick due to a tour date and got them in time, I did pay extra for the expedited order, however. All the reeds were too “dark” and just sounded muddled and dull. The EH reeds were horribly flat in pitch, no dynamic range, very resistant, and just did not sound very well.
Perhaps I should have ordered a med tone, but at $88 + $27 shipping, I simply don’t have that kind of money to experiment with.
I am getting my masters degree in oboe performance and in a jam I have used Lisa’s English horn reeds and love them! They are very consistent and enjoyable to play!
She is also always willing to talk to you about how quickly you need the reeds, and is so accomodating in that realm as well! Thanks so much Lisa!
It took over 6 weeks to get my reeds! I ordered two intermediate medium reeds and one professional to try ($23.00!) None of the reeds have the warm tonal quality that her first reeds had. I am very dissatisfied with all three.

I ordered reeds about a week ago and need them here by March 5, 2009 i have a concert on the 10th and need them by then!! please hurry!!!!
The reeds play with excellent quality, the only problem is that it took me a month to recieve my reed via mail and the reed was not in time for my performance. But if your looking for quality, regarless of a month wait then, Lisa may be of service to you.

I ordered reeds in May and have not received them. I’ve emailed and called and had no response from her!! I have concerts every week all summer long and I’m freaking out! The money was taken from my account already, so I’m very unhappy.
Lisa did eventually contact me and explained that there was a non-oboe related crisis. I’m hopeful that reed deliveries will again be timely, as I know that some of my students like her reeds quite a bit. (They don’t actually work for me, but I make my own so there you go!)

there were outside circumstances that contributed to the wait, but, i encourage all customers to contact me right away if they need reeds by a certain date.
please also know if there are ever any concerns with the quality of the reeds, you may contact me and i will do what i can do remedy the situation.
in response to the below, no customer of mine as ever not received their reeds. for the delay, however, i do take responsibility and am currently solving.

I too had a long wait for reeds this time around, but when I e-mailed her to ask where my reeds were, she explained that she’d had a crisis unrelated to reeds, and my reeds were in the mail.
However, the reeds I finally received, having ordered Medium-soft, are far too bright and unrefined, even painfully shrill, and are not usable by me. I suppose a more advanced player might be able to make them behave, but I cannot. Thus I too am unhappy that she does not allow refunds or exchanges. I ordered a reed previously that turned out to be very nice, which is why I ordered more reeds from her. I am disappointed and unpleasantly surprised at the abrupt change in quality.
I can no longer recommend these reeds, as the wait for them might be months, if you get them at all. I have a student who is still waiting, although the check has been cashed.
If this changes I will certainly let everyone know by reposting here, as I hate to be negative about someone like this. I feel bad, but since someone said I recommended her I do have to post this.

Lisa is the most reliable supplier I have ever used. If I order three reeds I will get at least some playing out of every reed (even if some are “practice” reeds and not for performing on). With past suppliers I could really only count on 1 out of 3 being decent. Her EH reeds are great too. The pitch is generally even and easy to adjust. I’ll never use anyone else.
I recievied my reed and it had a crack up the side,couldn’t play… there are no refunds and i’m not using these again!
I have ordered from Lisa several times now for my daughter who is very happy with her reeds. Her teacher, (website: http://oboeinsight.com/) is also impressed by Lisa’s work. Lisa’s service is also personal and timely.
I recently ordered 5 reeds from Lisa and was very pleased. All five reeds sounded very good with no fixing – I ordered medium strength. They produced an even and resonant sound, with good pitch and dynamic control. I play in a number of orchestral and chamber groups and need a reliable source of reeds. I will definitely order from Lisa again.
I am coming back to playing after a 15 year absence. I ordered standard, medium reeds. They are responsive, stable and I have dynamics again!! Thank You Lisa!
